bratfink, your boy might hate having his ears touched b/c they’re painful from the infection. Be gentle and patient, & it should be easier.
I don’ think there’s any reason not to use liquid ear cleaners. Oticlens is a good veterinary ear cleaner. Stay away from anything with essential oils, as EOs can cause seizures in cats. Very dangerous. But most ear cleaners, if used properly, are ok. Put a drop in, hold the ear shut for a sec, and let Kitty shake the debris out. Clean up w/a swab.

Thank you! Why aren’t we supposed to use liquid ear cleaners? My vet gave me some (vinegar & boric acid based). My cat’s a Sphynx who had terrible yeast infections when I adopted him from a neglectful person. After treating the yeast, he developed a bacterial infection which I’m trying to clear up. I have to sedate him to clean his ears (he’s SUPER strong & hates having the inside of his ears touched). Is the liquid bad because it bothers the cat? If so, mine’s asleep the whole time.
