Culligan the Betta Fish in his 5 Gallon Eclipse Hex Tank
By
Thanks for any help! UPDATE 12/31/08: Since this video, I bought a 50w Whisper aquarium heater by Tetra. I’ve also replaced his two plastic plants and resin rock with four silk aquarium plants of various sizes. I’ve also added 6 marimo balls of assorted sizes and two mini terracotta pots because I’m planning to get get 3 ghost shrimp when they’re in stock at one of the petstores here. I might make a video later. … Aquatic Betta Fish “Siamese Fighting Fish” Blue Water “5 Gallon” Aquarium …

Aww this vid makes me happy! And I love the lecture in the info too. The same thing happened to me when I first bought a betta in a cup. I bought this TINY bowl to move him into because I thought it was okay, but then I started reading all about bettas online, and within the week he was all set up just like Culligan. My betta only lived for around a year though, he wasn’t very healthy from the start.
Anyway, great video, and thanks for trying to educate others.

My tip is never to do this. Otherwise injuries can occur, plus they start to stress which is also bad.

Then your fish is sick. Or is seeing is reflection and will get hurt.

Very beautiful Betta indeed, but they even more beautiful when they angry. (Kind of like my girlfriend). Anyway im not suggesting you to put them to fight, my tips is put a small mirror outside of the tank (in front of them). When they see it, they gonna think thats another fish, & they normaly gonna show their true color & ready to fight. Try it. Ooh.. You might want to have you camera ready too. Dont put the mirror too long, 5-10 minutes is good enough.

i always feel like crying when i go to the petstore or go online and see them in cups or super tiny bowls its so sad!

bettas enjoy having alot of room. its not healthy to keep them in those tiny tanks and cups. ive met someone who had a perfectly happy betta that lives in a 90gal community tank and he is over 4 years old

hi i just got this exact tank in the post today
unfortunately the filter pump isn’t present.. can I ask you a question? Is the filter attacthed to the tank fram (in this case it has been smashed out and removed) or is it loose and you fit it yourself?
Where could I get another one? I hope it’s replaceable! Thanks

That is a bad tank for a betta the regular preference is smaller than that.

hope u realise the ‘common’ goldfish get huge! and need far more room then regular fish to be properly health and happy due to the amount of waste they produce

very cute!! I also live in Florida- have three bettas (without heaters)!!
: )
Have you gotten any more fish since this one??
How did it work out with the ghost shrimp?

I wouldn’t worry about a heater. I live in NC and i’ve had my betta for 4 years now with no heater. Very nice setup!

beautiful. i’m glad you have a bigger tank for it. i started with the basic bowl for my beta, but he didn’t eat. sat all the time. never moved. then i got him in a little two-gallon, with a heater, air pump, and light, and he was eating everything i gave him and swimming around like a happy fish. some bettas like small space, but obviously mine didn’t.

and thanks for adding the betta care detail. I COMPLETELY AGREE!! More people need to know that Bettas need BIGGER TANKS!
they have feelings, too, especially bettas, they are so PERSONABLE! i love them

nice tank and betta, he looks very Healthy and happy
December 3rd, 2009 at 2:31 am
they are actully better off alone, but if yu want to put in other fish white colored corys work well, nd ive seen a few ppl put african aquatic dwarf frogs in with bettas but that depends on the bettas attitude

Nothing for a 2 gallon – that’s JUST enough room for a betta. If you get a bigger tank I would get some cories – they are super funny =)
