How deep are rat holes? How can I get rid of rats in a hole?
By
I have a rat hole near my house. First off, I would like to add I have dogs that can get ahold of the rats. The rats which may have already been in poision, killing the dogs. Meaning, poision is out of the picture.
I want to also add that the hole is right by my house and, to my best view, goes under my house.
We thaught about using a small amount of gas to burn them up but were concerned about the house. That’s why I need to know how deep they are. If they are very deep, this seems safe.
If you have another suggestion, I would greatly appreciate your ideas.

Flood the hole with water, that usually works. Stuff a garden hose down it, then hang out in your basement and monitor for leaks.

Are you sure you don’t have moles? Rats don’t usualy tunnel underground in your yard. Can you see a tunnel? If so it is a mole. Chew some juicy fruit gum and put it in the tunnel. They hate the smell and will leave. If it is a rat set rat traps at night using peanut butter and putting them close to the house. Rats and mice will stay close to the building rather than run out in the open. You can set the traps at night and put them up when the dogs are out during the day.
