I have a beautiful pet cow, I wonder how anyone could eat such a sweet thing?
By
She loves getting pet, and she waits by the door when its milking time. Sometimes she just stands there and chews her cud while she watches us do things.
She is such a big cuddly mama. Her fur is so silky and shes is just a cutie pie. My one year old likes to help milk her and to scatch her with a brush and feed her, and hug her.
If I lay in the grass near her, she’ll come over and knudge me with her nose. She loves getting scratched and brushed under her neck and even all over.
justme thanks for the list of stuff you make out of cows, I won’t buy those from now, or I’ll find alternatives.
Oh and people also have parts that we can use to save lives, heard of stemcells, or liver transplant? Blood transfusion?
I think you should turn your farm into an organic milking farm.
aus blue…..I love you and the idea is great!!
Patrick,
breeding a cow for meat just means getting the fattest meatiest milk cow and her fattest meatiest calf, and so on. Breeding doesn’t have any relevence here. My cow just happens to be half , charolais.

It all has to do with the culture you grew up in. We would be horrified to eat a cat, but that is done in other cultures quite regularly. People here have no problem eating beef, but in other countries, it would be unthinkable.

Well…. the key word here is PET! If she is your pet then I don’t know why you would even ask that question. As for eating and using cattle for the betterment of mankind….. well by-products from cattle are used in cancer medications and many other pharm. products! Not to mention thousands of other aspects of our everyday life! Eating them is not the only service they provide.
I have been a beef cattle farmer for my whole life and I care for and respect each and everyone of the cows in my herd! They provide me with an income to support my family!
Here are a few other things cattle are used for…
Blood factors (for treating hemophilia, killing viruses and making anti-rejection drugs)
Chymotrypsin (promotes healing of burns and wounds)
Collagen (used in plastic surgery and to make non-stick bandages)
Cortisol (anti-inflammatory)
Glucagon (treats hypoglycemia or low blood sugar)
Heparin (anticoagulant used to treat blood clots)
Insulin (for treating diabetes or high blood sugar)
Pancreatin (aids in digestion of food)
Thrombin (coagulant which helps blood clot)
Vasopressin (controls intestinal and renal functions)
Vitamin B-12 (prevention of B-complex deficiencies)
Candles
Ceramics
Cosmetics
Crayons
Deoderants
Detergents
Floor Wax
Insecticides
Insulation
Linoleum
Mouthwash
Paints
Paper
Perfume
Plastic
Shaving Cream
Soaps
Synthetic Rubber
Textiles
Toothpaste
Antifreeze contains glycerol derived from fat
Asphalt contains a binding agent from beef fat
Beef fats and proteins are used to make auto and jet lubricants, outboard engine oil, high performance greases, and brake fluid
Glue from beef protein is used in automobile bodies
Tires have stearic acid, which makes rubber hold its shape

Meat is yummy and good for you (generally). Meat comes from living creatures. Sometimes we “connect” with these creatures psychologically, especially those that have been domesticated. This doesn’t make them any less tasty, it just makes them unappetizing to individuals who have made that connection.

While it sounds that you have a special relationship for your cow (because it is your pet), most cows are bred for only one purpose: food. These cows and bulls are not as intimate with their owners as yours is to you, so there are noo tears shed when these cows are slaughtered.
Furthermore, many people (like myself) love beef… we eat livestock but we would not eat our pet.

Hi, I also have cows, we have 10 today, some are pregnant and due soon. We love our cows and do not eat them although we do eat meat. I feel I have a good relationship with these animals and I have deep feelings for them and they all have characters and different habits and looks just like people. I know its sad to think about them being eaten, but you know your cow is safe with you so feel good about that, as ours are here. I have friends who have chickens which they love and do not eat but they do eat chicken, its a hard one I know. I used to be a vegetarian but I am too lightweight and need to have meat in my diet to keep some meat on my bones, especially in the wintertime. Keep loving your cow and she will return that with her creamy milk and sloppy licks. Be brave, it is a cruel world, do what you can to make yours and those around you the best you can, is all anyone can do.

I have had pet cows that Iv’e had to bottle feed. But I lived on a farm with TONS of cows…so every now and then we killed one……We were hungry and they are yummy!! But you have a milk cow, they are not good eats….we had beef cows…bred to be food…….sorry facts of life. If people didn’t need cows for milk and consumption we would not breed them so there would be very few cows, unless you live in India where they consider cows holy. So maybe you should be thankful that they produce yummy milk and meat.

leanneaddwain, silly fellow! don’t you know that ALL the dairy cows are slaughtered and eaten up by people after a few years of stealing their milk and torturing them? I think their lives are often times worse than the cows that are only used for their meat.
(find gentle small dairies who treat their cows with respect at least)
I have to say to “I forget” and others, that I have been a vegetarian all my life, and I’m pretty strong and an ok weight, a bit on the chubby side in fact…
I have to make a conscious effort to keep to a good healthy diet, and not get too fat. and I have also seen many a fat vegetarian.
The point is, you can definitely get everything everything from a healthful lacto vegetarian diet, even a careful vegan can get all the nutrients necessary, often times much much more, and very healthful without meat, fish dairy eggs etc..
Personally, I also have my own cow, and drinking milk is divine! Love it! (btw it’s much healthier to drink it raw)
to those who seem to be ok with eating some cows as long as their not your personal pet,… don’t you think that’s a bit hypocritical?
I mean, just cuz you don’t know a persons personally, does not mean that he/she is not entitled to the same respect as the ones you do know?
Similarly, cows and different animals once you know that they are sweet loving animals capable of feelings etc., how is it right to eat the ones you don’t personally know?
Especially in this day and age wherein it’s completely possible (exemplified by millions) to live without bathing your tongue in her blood? Without chewing on his flesh?
But everyone is in their evolution to perfection, and I commend all who are taking steps towards peace and harmony with all creatures of the world.
Keep LOOKING, keep FEELING, keep going with what your heart tells you, and you’re sure to feel happier.

Only beasts eat innocent animals and God punishes them for hurting other living beings
