I have a job offer in Winnipeg and i will need to rent. What is the law concerning pets and rental apartments?

I am currently living in Ontario, which does not have pet restrictions, but i have noticed that many Winnipeg rentals say “no pets”. Is this enforced? What about acquiring a pet after you have moved in? Will landlords evict you? I have a standard poodle dog, and wanted to rent for a few months before i decided to buy a house. Any info would be appreciated.

As a former landlord and a pet owner myself I know this situation but there is nothing you can do anywhere In the US or Out of it. If a Landlord says no pets thats their property and their decision. If you move in and dont tell them thats a violation of lease and they can evict you while still requiring you to pay the remainder of the lease balance and/or take legal action for violation of contract and distruction of property. I understand that you may be a responsible pet owner but many have had bad experiences with other tenants, myself included and won’t rent to pets even with a hefty security deposit. But, like anything, it doenst hurt to at least ask.
