is it normal to keep my pet chihuahua in the laundry room by itself during the night to sleep?

we just got a new pet and during the night we keep the chihuahua in the laundry room with the door closed. He has his bed there and food and water, but i hear it whimpering from time to time. Is this normal or should it sleep somewhere else. We keep it in the laundry room because it has tiled flooring so if it had to use the bathroom the carpet won’t be messed up.

Yes, this is perfectly normal. As long as there is a warm bed and water, your chihuahua should be fine. The dog will whimper no matter where you leave him/her during the night, but eventually it will get used to it.
