Rats?!?!?!?
ByMe and my sister are desperate for pet rats. My mum hates rats! How can we persuade her?

They make great pets, friendly, loving and fun. Trick is to handle them allot as pups then they used to you, and will recognize your voice. Have her take you to a pet store, see them, or if you know someone who has one as a pet, then it is already tamed let her see or hold it.

There is a HUGE difference between wild and domesticated rats. I actually just finished a documentary on rats so i may be able to help. a wild rat is a LOT bigger than a pet rat, and could quite possibly have an infectious disease. pet rats on the other hand, are quite small, and a lot more cute and cuddly. Pet rats do have a chance of contracting some diseases., but that is somewhat rare and can be overcome by the usual quarantine period after you buy the rat. (3-5 days) Rats can also be shown in special rat shows, but they are not particularly common. Some facts about rats are: there are many types of rats including hairless, dumbo (big ears) and tailless. I would say that the best way to overcome her hatred of rats is to expose her to a rat. Don’t make a big deal of it, just take her into a quiet room with a rat (preferably not albino, the eyes can be freaky) and let her pet the rat or just look at it, and give her time.

When my little brother first got his rat my mom didnt even know about it. He was a hairless rat named Rufus. Over time she learned to love him and sometimes she would even hold him. I sugest taking your mom to the pet store and letting her stick her hand in the cage, just so she can see they are not horrible little rodents. My mother recently got me a rat after Rufus passed away. His name is Scabbers after the rat in Harry Potter. I’ve been to this website and it has convinced my mother to let me get another! If your mom still doesnt like the idea let her read the site. I found it was a GREAT help in designing my new rat home =] hope this helps

tell her it will only eat cheese and crackers not counting, bread potatoes,paper for nesting, cake, pie, clothing, shoes, not bad if you need a paper shredder is it.

My rats are the best pets i’ve ever had!
Do u no anyone near u geographicaly that has some, take your mum to see them and she’ll soon fall for them!!
