What is the natural or original diet for humans? Do any other animals develop food allergies?

By Cow

I’m not asking for philosophical guessing. This might be a question for those who have more knowledge of veternary science, comparative anatomy or maybe anthropology. From what I know about animals, they don’t have food allergies but most have much narrower diets. Are food allergies a product of something different about our immune system? Do other animals have no eosinophylls in their blood?

Humans have had different diets in different periods of their evolution. At one point they would have been vegetarian, living in forests or jungles. They developed a good sense of colour at this point, for telling the difference between ripe and unripe fruits.

Later, as the African jungles started to recede and turn into Savanna, humans turned into hunters and adapted to a diet with much more meat in it. So the modern human is much more omnivorous than most animals. But bears and dogs would also have an omnivorous diet.

IF you “believe” the “Old Testament” for proof…then here is my answer….when God created Adam and Eve he said “every tree is good to eat from except the tree in the center of the garden the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” you dont want philosophy, so ill skip all of the points to go along with that….so, then people started out as vegetarians, after the “great flood” of Noahs day, once the ark landed, God then said “you may eat meat”, and people became omnivorous. So, that being said, answers that question by that source.
as for animals….i have an extensive animal husbandry background, and know of several animals which have developed food allergies, biologically, some animals such as sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens in particular, do get symptoms from eating foods that do not “agree” with them. Deadly Nightshade is one plant which is slightly to lethally poisonous, some animals will eat it and become intoxicated, this is what will also happen to humans with that same plant, it is said to be used by “witches” as part of a “flying potion” for its hallucinating properties.
If you feed ANY meat to pigs(swine) they become “insane”. They run around in circles until they die. Certain cattle feed bags are labled “not to be fed to swine” for that reason.
An allergy occurs when your body/or the animals body sends out immuno suppresants to attack the ingrediant/matter that the body ingested, and can occur in both human and animals.
