Where Can I Get A Cheap Gerbil Cage From?
ByI wanted a pet hamster but now I want a gerbil. I want to find a cheap cage but with good quality. It needs to have lots of things for my gerbil to do. Can I keep a gerbil on its own and which breed of gerbil are best for being on their own bearing in mind that I will give them lots of love and attention. I would like the cage to have two levels so that it has lots to do but it needs to be 39cm high or less. Any ideas about this question?

eBay, your local pet store, or http://www.craigslist.com. Sometimes at http://www.craigslist.com, they give away free stuff. Search that, too.

You could try Ebay.
I wouldnt reccomend keeping a gerbil on its own. They like to live in groups. So get at least two, and I would suggest females if you get more than one.

The best housing for gerbils is a tank (aquarium) with a mesh lid. They’re not too expensive. Gerbils love digging, and a tank allows you to add lots of bedding. Gerbils also tend to chew on the bars of wire cages, so it’s best to go with an aquarium. For a pair of gerbils, I recommend a 15-20 gallon tank.
Gerbils are social and should be kept in pairs. It’s just not fair to keep a gerbil on it’s own unless it really doesn’t enjoy the company of other gerbils. Most gerbils need a companion. Lone gerbils live shorter, less healthy lives. My two girls sleep together, groom each other, eat together, and even try running on the wheel together. Two gerbils isn’t much more work than one, and your gerbil would be much happier. Yes, you can spend all the free time you have with it, but it doesn’t substitute a gerbil friend.
The gerbils at pet stores are Mongolian Gerbils. I believe they’re the only type you’ll find in pet stores.
