Why are there so many unique animals in Madagascar?

i need this information for my historical investigation in social studies. and i’ve looked on a lot of different sites, but i still can’t find the information that i need. all i know is that climate had something to do with it. but i still need two more reasons. if you could give me information or just the website, that would be GREAT. 10 pts. for best answer!!!

I don’t have a web site. Madagascar is an a large island. When plants and animals are isolated on an island their evolution is usually different than other large land masses. Examples can be found in Australia, and the Galapagos islands. In fact the Galapagos were one of Darwin’s inspirations for the “Theory of evolution”.
