Will we ever see extinct animals walk the Earth again?
By
I,ve read about it in a few science articals, but who actually believes or wants to see us bring back to life extinct animals that lived in a completely different world than we do now? I guess it would be intresting to see living animal such as: mammoths, sabortooth tigers and other more peace-ful animals, but surely scientist wouldnt be stupid enough to ressurect dinosuars would they? Or are they greedy enough to be ignorant like the scientist in Jurassic Park an d cuase potential disaster? What do ya’ll think?

not really, extinct mean “gone forever” or for you to understand, they dont exist anymore, duh…

It isn’t physically possible. Even to clone something, you have to have the same species to host the clone.

I think they already do walk the earth. Have you taken a close look at Michael Moore lately?

It is possible now to clone extinct animals if we can find their DNA. Of course, cloning is illegal in most countries, but I doubt that will stop it. It’s possible that someone will clone an extinct animal, I suppose. Yes, it could be dangerous. To me, though, how would it be if we could get some DNA from Jesus, and clone Him? Would that work?

In order to bring them back they would have to be born in other animals so we will never really see a “pure” extinct animal walk again. And knowing scientists, i bet they would try and bring back dinosaurs.

Although with our current knowledge of genetics and DNA bringing back extinct species is possible (and it has been done – some guy brought back some extinct breed of cow using genetics and breeding techniques) to be able to bring back something so genetically different than anything living on Earth now might be something not seen for decades. When it happens though…who knows. If they do bring them back, I think the scientists will be careful enough to not let anything escape.

Only if there is some economic benefit! The facts of life.

Yeah, extinct means gone forever, but it might happen. You just have to find a cell with DNA that’s not too badly damaged so you could implant it into an egg cell of a female closely related to the certain animal the DNA belongs to.

I’m sure they will because commercial uses will become apparent. Gene therapy is probably the next quantum leap in medicine. Bringing back old and extinct genes or recreating them for reasons that we can’t conceive of yet is almost inevitable.

come on they are already cloning whats to say they arent trying things that we dont know about they are doing things we cant even speculate on this goverment is keeping so many secrets it is not funny

The reason they are extinct is largely due to environmental factors…so technically they will not be making a long-term comeback. However you are correct scientists do things which the logical mind cannot fathom. Which means they do things which are not necessarily “advancing” us as a people but simply because they can. I think it would be safe to say that while it CAN happen with a sample of DNA…unless these creatures are in a controlled environment they will become extinct once again because of the environment.

I like your imagination. As for the obvious answer. Probably not in our generation, who knows what the future holds. In some cases, they find living species of animals on the extinct list. Look at Anthropology, than look at Cryptozoology. One says the other is nuts, but we are only a discovery away. There is still alot of mysteries out there. Good luck with the studies…

Just because some species become extinct due to environmental factors does not mean they will not thrive in a world we live in today or even a future world for that matter. We are not living in an Ice Age are we ? and Yes, scientist and the people behind them will make mistakes (it is Murphy’s Law) especially when dabbling into a realm of science that we have no prior experience.
I totally agree with discord43 except that if Jesus were cloned it would most likely look and act like him, but not the same spirit.

ok well ummm i beleive that its possible for peolpe to bring back extinct animals! but in a way this is an opinion question! some peolpes opinions are different than others! in my opinion i think yea some day some one will eventually bring something back! but that could be in the far future

I think that we as a generation will never know. but how did they get here? I believe that possibly if whenever evolution happend to get them here happens again they could emerge again.

I think its very possible that we try to revive mammals such as the mammoth by cloning. I’m not sure if they would ever try dinosaurs, it would be a very risky thing to do. Anyways, I dont think there is any DNA available of dinosaurs to actually clone them. In Jusarric park they were extremely lucky to find the blood of an ancient dinosaur within the blood sac inside of misquito preserved in some tree sap. The things we see in movies, are usually the things that almost never happen in real life.
