Would it be possible for a Professional dog trainer to train an attack dog by himself?

By Cow

My cousin is a professional dog trainer for the police and he just got him a personal german shepherd dog. He is going to train him to be a attack/guard dog, but I thaught it takes two people, but he is going to train him by himself. Is this possible?
How exsactly would he do it? Would he have to get a dummy or somthing?

well kinda….you would need to be there so you know what to do for sure when your cousin is gone.. but the professional would tell you the exact steps you need to take and how to treat them!… good luck! :)

Yes, he’ll probably be really good at it too seeing as he is a professional :)

I suppose you could, but not sure how effective it would be. The idea of training is to mimic real life situations. Plus, apprehension work for a dog is a game to them that plays on their basic drives.
Biting a stationary dummy is a far cry from biting a person. Its hard enough in Police training to get them to go from biting the sleeve on a running person to biting bare arm. Often, for their first bite, Police dogs hestitate to bite the arm without a sleever, or bite and release. Not to mentioned the moving person is a game to them. It plays to their natural drivers. Also, when Police dogs are taught to bite, the subject fights back, like a game of tug. Where is the game in biting a dummy?
Plus, once you teach the dog to bite, you have to make sure he is going to release. There is alot of work put into this including sending the dog after a moving person (prey drive) and calling them off. This is one of the hardest tasks.
I am not saying it can’t be done, I would also like to know how he does it though
