Would you please recommend a toddler animal DVD?

By Cow

My 14 month old LOVES looking at animals. He has several board books with pictures of animals that he looks at throughout the day. I am looking for a good DVD that showcases animals, preferably live-action, but cartoon would be okay as well. Thank you.
Before I get more advice to visit the zoo, we have an annuak pass and my son goes there at least once a month. But thanks for the suggestion:)

may not be exactly what you are looking for by the Baby Songs series has an animal one… basically the series is Pap Halmer (i think i have his name right) singing various songs and they have children dancing along… ok it really is MUCH better than i described :) but my son loves them, he’s 20 months now, but probably started watching them around 8 months. the animal dvd sings, old macdonald, bingo, itsy bits spider… ummm that’s all that comes to mind but there are about 10 songs on it

edit:
oh in case it wasnt clear the video also has animals… a dog plays the role of bingo, they show the animals in old macdonald… there is also an elephant song with elephant vidoes… all real life videos or photos

edit again:
milo and otis is a tale of a kitten & puppy that get lost in the forest area, is real life…. homeward bound the 3 dogs and a cat have to find there way home, also real life but i am doubtful a 14 month old will really watch them.. i have milo & otis already but havent thought my son would be interested yet so i havent put it on for him… it’s in the cheapy bin at most walmarts

Cartoon-wise Bambie is good for animals…considering the whole movie is nothing BUT animals..LOL.

Live-action is a little harder to find, but all of those Nova PBS specials about wild animals can be bought pretty cheaply.

How about taking him to a zoo or animal park?

The first thing that came to my mind was…

The Backyardigans
Baby Einsteins (Not Little Einsteins…Baby)
Pooh Bear and Friends
Blue’s Clues

Hey, if you want something that your baby will love, find this channel: PBS Sprout.
It has some animal shows on it like Franklin, and the kids I babysit looooove watching it. It is very educational and kids still love it!

Are you in UK? If so mama Mirabel’s Home Movies would be fantastic for him. It’s on youtube so you could always watch it a bit on there with him. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/mamamirabelle/

If you have sky+ you can just record the episodes on Cbeebies for him to watch.

Failing that try http://www.kidsloveanimals.com/ for ideas.

This has been recommended by a few already, I also would like to recommend madagascar. I rented it out for my daughter a couple of months ago (she is now 2) and was fascinated with the actions, singing and dancing. I also enjoyed watching it with her. We had lots of encore with that movie!

Charlotte’s Web (not the cartoon one, the one with Dakota Fanning).

Happy Feet (animated)
Madagascar 1 & 2 (animated)

Hmm…I’m trying to think of my *live* ones…I’ll edit if I think of any.
